All I'm saying is without seeing them, how can you really say how good they are? A person could get on here and read the CW-Volunteer thread and gather that Volunteer is a perennial powerhouse...but does that make it so? Word of mouth isn't usually the most reliable source to base a fact on.

I happen to think there's some credibility in the 20 or so people, from different schools, districts, and even three states, who have all said very much the same thing: Bell County is a powerhouse team and one of the best they've seen in East KY in several years.
As I noted before, you don't have to believe it. We don't have to agree. And, as you stated, we can all believe what we want. We don't need approval from anyone else.

I have no problem with any of that. But you get 100 on here every year who claim that JIB will stomp everyone and win state and it hasn't happened yet...I know Bell Co. is good, and is a powerhouse..but I don't think that necessarily means they'd run all over any school over here. They would prolly beat the majority of teams over here, but the same can be said for a handful of teams over here as well. Put GC, or Clintwood playing Eastern Ky. schools and they beat most of em...cuz every Eastern Ky School isn't Bell Co...the same way every Region D school isn't Lee. It's just logic.

I don't ever remember saying that I thought JIB was going "stomp on everyone" and "win state?" Some might, but I've never thought that. I think JIB has had good teams over the past 3-4 years, and I personally think they peaked in 2006 and that was probably the best shot they've had. I like watching teams like JIB, Gate City, and Powell Valley play football. I like watching teams like Gate City, Castlewood, and Dobyns Bennett play basketball. Sometimes, they're good, and sometimes they're not so good as you well know. Those are my personal likes. I'm sure you have your own in whatever sports you like. I'm not going to apologize for having my personal picks, and I'm not going to make excuses for them when they don't do well. Sports is up and down, and teams are up and down. That's life.

I have seen Bell County play, more than once. They're an elite team and they would roll any team from SWVA. As for sup-r-beast's comment about thinking Volunteer was a perennial power if you just looked at the Clintwood score. You're right, in fact, if Volunteer was playing in SWVA with their talent they WOULD be a perennial power. I guess you think the better teams in SWVA could play right with DB or Sullivan South too huh?

They are about the same size as our schools. Bell is little bigger than Lee. Breathitt is around the size of John Battle and most of the rest are smaller.
Bell Co. had an enrollment of 864 two years ago. The enrollment had been going up for the past 4-5 years before that. That'll leave you to believe that they're in that 900 range. That makes a big difference if you'd be playing a school with 1-400. They might have a similiar enrollment to Lee, but they don't have a similiar enrollment to "ours".
